Minor task - Social media page

Image
For our social media media page, I have looked into other artists and how they portray themselves online. In contrast to Frank oceans bare profile, as we can see from Bruno mars' page he loves to share his life with his fans through his posts. it is also important to note how balanced his choice of uploaded pictures are in terms of who he is as a person. Some of his posts are a reflection of only him, making him appear as more relaxed and himself whereas some of his other posts show him surrounded by his fans or performing live. This makes him appear as more wholesome and can be use to convey him as a good guy who likes  interact with his fans making him seem more appealing to his audience. The wide range colours used gives off a "happy and welcoming vibe" which can also portray him as being family friendly.  Just like Bruno mars' profile, a variety of bright colors and high quality photo's are evident through justin biebers page. From just a glance we can alread...

Media regulation essay

How effective is current media regulation? I think that media regulation has become less effective over time. Regulating media is very important as it determines what messages and representations are being conveyed into certain audiences, especially for age demographics such as gen z and younger individuals. It helps protect people by being aware of whether things such as violence or sex are being shown enabling age restrictions to be made on each film which intends to be released. However, over the last decade it has been increasingly hard to regulate media due to things such as technological advancements as well as changes in culture which goes hand in hand with fragmentation.    Unlike a couple of decades ago when all displayed media could be controlled and only viewed at a certain time on a particular channel, people now have unlimited freedom to the internet due to the advancement in Web 2.0 (released in 1999 allowing users to become active online with an average o...

To what extent do the media represent people fully?  the media represents people nowadays through stereotyping different groups whether it be associated with age, ethnicity, race, social status, gender or religion. Media representations are established, stereotypical representations of social groups across various media platforms. An example of how people are represented by media, particularly the news, is the Global portrayal of the royal family. The media represents the king as the leader of their country which helps strengthen the national identity as the royals participate in national events such as sports and conferences.  Age in particular is one way people are represented by the media such creating certain characterisations of children, youth and the elderly which as a whole influences societies behaviour towards them. Children for example are often shown as innocent, vulnerable and often very carefree however can also be painted in a negative light due to misbeh...

Women representation

Women make up around 50% of the us population and minorities slightly more than 40%. It is predicted that the majority of a nations population will be minorities by 2050 The number of female acting roles as well as people of colour acting in productions have been progressingly increasing since UCLA started taking records of data. "When it comes to writing and directing, minorities and women have gained a little ground on their white and male counterparts in recent years, but still have a long way to go "white men still dominate the high-level TV executive jobs. As of 2020, chair/CEO positions were overwhelmingly held by white people (92.0%) and men (68.0%); and the statistics were similar for of senior executives (84.0% white, 60.0% male) and unit heads (87.0% white, 54.0% male)" "The report found more people were watching films with diverse casts as well as the entertainment industry hiring more diverse staff for both onscreen and creative roles" Links used: ...
