 Some ideas for our Photo Mock Up: Since Frank oceans main genre is Alternative R&B, which is a popular pop genre used most frequently by industries in the 1990's  and early 2000's, I figured that for our digital mock up we should think outside the box by collaborating a cartoon affect which adds to the overall mood portrayed in this genre. While also bringing through our theme of 'Pink and White'. Here's an example of a mock up I made as an Idea. The pastel colours represent the mellow mood of Frank Oceans music. 

 Do you think all media should be regulated?  Yes, I think all media should be regulated to some extent in order to keep a certain level of control as who what people are viewing as well as keeping younger eyes safe from viewing potential harmful content. Should social media companies and big tech have the right or the power to silence voices on their platforms? As of currently, these conglomerates do in fact have the right to silence any content they view to be harmful or sensor any inappropriate content that goes against their guidelines. In my opinion, I think social media companies and big tech should only have the right to silence voices that are causing harm or destruction as well as promoting false information on their platform. In todays culture, the development of the smartphone has played a big role in the improvement of mass communication. Media ecology, a theory coined in 1968 by Neil postman, aims to describe ways in which diverse media environments shape todays society and our everyday lives. Media environments are constantly changing as well as impacting audience behaviour which links to how to smartphone has made such a difference in the last decade and is influencing media. The development of the smartphone itself in 1992 revolutionised technology for future generations eventhough it wasn’t until 1997 when the first social media platform ‘six degrees’ was released which led to the release of the internet in 1999. Journalism can be seen as an alternative form of gathering news and public events outside the boarders of traditional media structures.  Thy are not bound by editorial guidelines and are not affiliated with an organisation. Creative critical reflection: The song “Pink + White” by frank ocean is known by many to be a mixture of R&B and soul as it’s defined with a slower beat and unique use of sound. It was a very interesting song to work with as it had no previously existing music video, giving us freedom to to be creative and deliberate with our choice of representation.  One of the main themes being  portrayed is age and gender as they were both conventions we challenged. We portrayed age in an interesting yet significant way as we chose actors among our own age (16-17) to not only refer Frank ocean at a younger age as he reflects on his past but also to make it more appealing to our target audience between the ages of 16 - 30. Giving a visual representation the youth demographic, allowing us to make our music video more connected to Gen Z.  For our social media media page, I have looked into other artists and how they portray themselves online. In contrast to Frank oceans bare profile, as we can see from Bruno mars' page he loves to share his life with his fans through his posts. it is also important to note how balanced his choice of uploaded pictures are in terms of who he is as a person. Some of his posts are a reflection of only him, making him appear as more relaxed and himself whereas some of his other posts show him surrounded by his fans or performing live. This makes him appear as more wholesome and can be use to convey him as a good guy who likes  interact with his fans making him seem more appealing to his audience.   How effective is current media regulation? I think that media regulation has become less effective over time. Regulating media is very important as it determines what messages and representations are being conveyed into certain audiences, especially for age demographics such as gen z and younger individuals. It helps protect people by being aware of whether things such as violence or sex are being shown enabling age restrictions to be made on each film which intends to be released.   To what extent do the media represent people fully?  the media represents people nowadays through stereotyping different groups whether it be associated with age, ethnicity, race, social status, gender or religion. Media representations are established, stereotypical representations of social groups across various media platforms. An example of how people are represented by media, particularly the news, is the Global portrayal of the royal family. The media represents the king as the leader of their country which helps strengthen the national identity as the royals participate in national events such as sports and conferences.  Age in particular is one way people are represented by the media such creating certain characterisations of children, youth and the elderly which as a whole influences societies behaviour towards them.
